Vaughn Elementary School is seeking applications for a Bus Route Driver to begin working as soon as possible.
For more information, or to apply, please visit the employment page of our website or stop by the school office.
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We currently have only one bus driver and therefore have canceled bus service for out of district students.
We will continue to have a bus route for students who are residents of our district but the route has changed to make this happen.
Beginning on Monday, February 24, 2025 and until further notice, the bus route will be as listed on the notice we mailed out. Pickup and drop off times are estimates for now. After running the route for a few days, we should have accurate times.
Thank you for your cooperation as we deal with bus driver shortages. We will continue to try and hire another bus driver, but please plan on this being the route for the remainder of this school year.
If you have any questions or did not receive a copy of the revised bus route, please feel free to contact the school.
Sincerely,
Loren Dunk, Superintendent

Dear Sun Prairie Parents and Guardians,
At this time the school only has one bus driver. A shortage of bus drivers is an issue across the nation and our state and it has now found our school. We have been advertising on Indeed and our school website. We have not had any applicants thus far and it is very likely that we will not be able to hire another driver for the remainder of the school year. We did have a temporary solution and that is no longer available. We will continue to advertise for a driver.
Due to the fact that Sun Prairie students are out of district and by definition not eligible transportees, we are not required to provide transportation. We will be canceling bus service until further notice effective on February 24, 2025. Parents will be responsible for transporting their students to and from school and should plan to do this for the remainder of the school year.
I understand that this is likely an inconvenience and I apologize for this. At this time, it is the district’s chosen option.
If you require bus service and driving your students is not an option, Great Falls is the district school where you would need to enroll your students. They will be required to provide transportation.
We will update you if there comes a time when we can resume service.
Call Mr. Dunk at the school, if you have questions.
Sincerely,
Loren Dunk, Superintendent
With the variable spring weather, please make sure students are dressed for the conditions. Remember we greet students starting at 7:30am for breakfast. Please do not send students early.
If your child will be absent please make sure you call Ms. Eudeen!
Stay warm and safe!
Mrs. Kasuske
Attention Parents and Guardians:
Vaughn School has implemented Friday school. Friday school is for students with inappropriate behaviors or missing work in grades 4-8. Students may be assigned one day or multiple days. Friday school will run on Friday mornings from 8:00-11:00 am on the date your student is assigned. Parents are responsible for transportation to and from Friday school. Breakfast and lunch will not be provided. A staff member will be on duty to super vise and provide support with assignments. Students who do not attend on assigned days will have additional consequences unless arrangements are made with the school principal.
Important things to remember:
• Cell phones will be checked with staff on duty and returned to the student at the end of their assigned time for the day.
• Students will work on missing assignments or can read a book or draw.
• A note will be sent home when assigned.
• Students may bring a bottle of water and a healthy snack.
Please help us extinguish the disrespect and negative behaviors we are experiencing. We want to ensure a safe learning environment, an academically strong learning environment, and a culture of respect.
Thank you!
